U.S. Rep. Ryan Costello, R-6, of West Goshen, presented medals earned by a World War II veteran more than 70 years ago to the veteran’s son. Costello met with Len Iacono of West Goshen. Len’s father, also named Leonard Iacono, earned the medals while serving as a First Class Radio Operator aboard the USS Kershaw and stationed in the Pacific during WWII. The congressman’s staff assisted Len Iacono in obtaining the medals from the Navy Personnel Command. The elder Iacono, who died in February, earned the following honors: World War II Victory Medal; American Campaign Medal; Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal; Combat Action Ribbon; Discharge Button and the Honorable Service Lapel Pin. Len is holding a photo of his father and mother, Carmela, taken in 1946. Costello is for up for re-election this year and is running against Democrat Mike Parrish of Willistown.
